– German parliamentarians have approved an agreement for a "grand coalition" of three parties, after months of negotiation. The finalization of the deal paves the way for Christian Democratic Union leader Friedrich Merz to take office as Chancellor and cabinet ministers to be sworn in.
– Poland is not slowing down when it comes to improving its armament capabilities and upping its security in the face of growing risks from Russia. The Polish government has applied to the European Commission to activate an escape clause on defense spending. This will allow Poland to exclude defense expenditure in the deficit calculations.
– The U.S. and Ukraine were close to signing the much discussed minerals deal on Wednesday. However, the agreement was ultimately not finalized. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy appears to have secured significant concessions from the U.S..
